A glance at October 6 University
Since Education is Egypt's vehicle towards modern development, it has become imperative for Egypt to move towards modern science that fulfills the demands and needs of modern life and labour market, and achieves ambitions of the young through building academic edifices armed with state-of-the art modern science and technology which is transforming the world into a small village.
This vision was the driving force that triggered the private sector to break through the field of education under state umbrella in a bold and daring initiative that envisages future interests of Egypt. In that context O6U came into existence.
O6U was established by the Republican Decree no (243) in 1996, then became a member of the Arab Universities Association in 1997.
O6U is uniquely placed among other peer universities where its graduates are well-reputed in labour market in different fields with all the awarded degrees accredited and validated by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities.
O6U has strong infrastructures for different disciplines which serve academia, environment and community through the fourteen faculties it has, a world class hospital, and two educational hotels one for female students and the other for male students, a state-of-the art library as well as sports facilities.
The O6U campus has 4 education buildings, the Hospital, educational hotel for female students, while the library and the educational hotel for male students are situated (150) meters outside the campus.
The total area of the University exceeds (170.000) square meters. The total number of student population is about (12.000) from (42) different nationalities (international students amount to about third of them. This means that each student is allocated about (14) meters in terms of area.
O6U enjoys exclusive institutional character since it is owned and managed by institutions with its large galaxy of distinct teaching faculty drawn from different disciplines of science and knowledge.
O6U shoulders the responsibility of providing teaching, learning and training opportunities to ensure graduates would contribute positively in serving their community in all walks of life.
