Accreditation of Certificates

1- International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)

How to Equalize the Certificate

- 8 subjects of the O Level with the minimum grading C for each subject are counted.

- As for A level or A.S. Level no subjects  are counted except after successfully passing the eight O.L subjects.

Remarks:

• If the student desires to join one of the medical section faculties, qualifying subjects( chemistry – physics – biology ) are a must
• If the student wants to join one of the faculties of engineering section qualifying subjects must exist among studied subjects. These subjects are: chemistry – physics – mathematics in the advanced level.
• If the student desires to join the Faculty of Languages and Translation a second language is required among the studied languages.
• English Language is a basic subject without which the certificate will not be accepted in any of the faculties.
• The student is required to get the IGCSE qualification via 5 exams maximum in three consecutive years.
• In case of acquiring the (IGCSE)from a country other than Egypt getting grade C in one of the subjects, the student must get a letter from school notifying the university whether this subject was attended according to the Extended or Core system.
• To join any of the faculties, the student must complete 12 scholastic years and is required to submit documents with the scholastic sequence.

Required Documents for (IGCSE) Applicants:

• The original exams certificates approved from the British Council and the Egyptian Ministry of  Foreign Affairs.
• The original preparatory stage certificate or the scholastic sequence for 12 scholastic years certified from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• The original birth certificate certified from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in case of non-Egyptian students.

2- The American Diploma

It is accredited by accumulating 8 subjects from classes 10, 11, 12 as follows:

The average is calculated by adding the sum of the eight subjects and dividing it on 8 on the condition that each of the eight subjects makes up one credit.

Method of calculating the SAT:

American Diploma holders cannot be accepted at any Egyptian university unless they undergo SAT 1 exam achieving a minimum of 1200 marks.

As for SAT 2 exam it is not obligatory for the student to join O6U , it is only undergone to increase the totality of marks. To add the result of SAT 2 exam the student must achieve a minimum of 900 marks.

Relative total = ( percentage of the diploma + percentage of SAT 1 exam +   percentage of SAT 2 exam)

Required Documents for American Diploma Applicants:

• The original certificate of the American Diploma approved from the cultural counselor in Washington DC.
• The original cardboard certificate certified from the cultural counselor in Washington DC.
• The original SAT certificate certified by Amideast, Doki, Giza.
• The original preparatory stage certificate or a document with the scholastic sequence for 12 scholastic years certified from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• The original birth certificate certified from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in case of non-Egyptian students.

3- Accredited Arab certificates

Saudi secondary certificate

It is accepted for departments of Natural Sciences, Legitimate Sciences, Administrative and social Sciences and the literary section . The student must submit the secondary school certificate , abilities exam and attainment exam.

The Yemeni Secondary Certificate

It is accepted in O6U in its two branches the scientific and the literary. The student must submit preparatory school certificate together with certificates of the first and the second secondary years all approved.

The Palestinian Secondary Certificate

Both science and humanities sections are accepted in scientific and literary faculties

Jordanian Secondary Certificate

The scientific section is accepted in scientific faculties and the literary section is accepted in literary faculties.

The Iraqi Secondary Certificate

The scientific section is accepted in scientific faculties and the literary section is accepted in literary faculties.

The Emirati Secondary Certificate

The scientific section is accepted in scientific faculties and the literary section is accepted in literary faculties.

The Qatari Secondary Certificate

The scientific section is accepted in scientific faculties and the literary section is accepted in literary faculties.

The Omani Secondary Certificate

The scientific section is accepted in scientific faculties and the literary section is accepted in literary faculties.

The Bahraini Secondary Certificate

The scientific section is accepted in scientific faculties and the literary section is accepted in literary faculties. The student gets certificates of the three secondary years together with a statement of graduation and birth certificate all approved from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Kuwaiti Secondary Certificate

The scientific section is accepted in scientific faculties and the literary section is accepted in literary faculties. It is only accepted after submitting certificates of the three secondary years together with a statement of graduation and birth certificate all approved from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Libyan Secondary Certificate

The scientific section is accepted in scientific faculties and the literary section is accepted in literary faculties. As for the new Specialized secondary certificate it is accepted in accordance with the resolution of the Libyan attaché.

The Sudanese Secondary Certificate

The scientific section is accepted in scientific faculties and the literary section is accepted in literary faculties.

The Syrian Secondary Certificate

The scientific section is accepted in scientific faculties and the literary section is accepted in literary faculties.

Egyptian Certificates

Thanawia Amma ( Egyptian high school diploma)

- Scientific section ( sciences) : accepted in medical faculties after fulfillment of acceptance percentage condition.

- Scientific section ( mathematics) : accepted in faculties of engineering sector after fulfillment of acceptance percentage condition.

- Literary section: accepted in faculties of literary sector after fulfillment of acceptance percentage condition.

The Required Documents for Thanawia Amma  Holders

· The original secondary certificate or an official offprint with the marks issued by the General Administration of Exams

· Original birth certificate.

· A photocopy of the student's ID

· Six 4 x 6 personal photos

· Military status form for male Egyptians

The Required Documents for  Application ( the Accredited Arab Secondary certificate)

· The original Arab accredited certificate approved from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

· Original birth certificate approved from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

· A photocopy of the passport.

· Six 4 x 6 personal photos

The Required Documents for Transference to O6U

• The original Thanawia Amma certificate
• Original birth certificate
• Statement of the student's position from the university from which the student transfers approved from the Egyptian Higher Education or Ministry of Foreign Affairs for students who transfer from outside Egypt.
• The academic content for the subjects from the university from which the student transfers approved from the Egyptian Higher Education or Ministry of Foreign Affairs for students who transfer from outside Egypt.
• A letter of withdrawal from the university from which the student transfers approved from the rector if inside Egypt.

General Rules

1. For theoretical faculties, the student is not accepted in case of passing more than 15 years – as a maximum - after acquiring the last degree.

2. For faculties of engineering and medical sector, the student is not accepted in case of passing more than ten years – as a maximum - of acquiring the last degree.

3. Students from the following countries are accepted only after submitting an approval letter from the Cultural attaché in Cairo: Saudi Arabia – Kuwait – Emirates – Bahrain – Yemen – Jordan).
