Course Description
|
PED 503&504 Pediatrics I&II.
|
Description:
It provides acquisition of basic knowledge of normal and abnormal physical, physiologic & psychosocial growth and development, and its clinical application from birth through adolescence. It enables the students to provide basic health care for neonates, infants, children and adolescents. It provides students with an appropriate background covering the common and important pediatric emergencies and diseases. It enables the development and application of appropriate professional communication and problem solving skills. Develop the attitudes necessary for an individual to become a compassionate, ethical, and trustworthy physician who recognizes and respects the responsibility they assume in the care of their patients.

Attendance Criteria:
Students must attend at least 60 % of the theoretical lectures and 75 % of the clinical rounds.
Assessment methods:
- Written exams: short questions, long questions, case histories, MCQs
- Oral exams
- Clinical exams: short cases, long cases
- Diagnostic skills exams: X- rays, CTs, blood gases, CBCs, patient photographs.
Marks distribution:
A total of 500 Marks distributed as follows:
- 10% Year Activity at O6U .
- 10% End of clinical term exam at Kasr El Ainy Hospital
- 50% End of year Written exam.
- 30% End of year Clinical and Skills Exam.
