Registration and Admission

The requirements for students’ registration in the Faculty of Languages and Translation:
  1. The student should pass an admittance test which determines his ability to resume his study at the faculty or not.
  2. A student should pass the physical examination and he/she must not be infected with any epidemics.
  3. The student must be able to abide by a strict code of ethics.
  4. The student must complete his registration in the faculty and is not allowed to register himself in more than one faculty at the same time.
  5. The student must be a full – time student.
  6. The student must maintain a good reputation.
  7.  After registration and paying fees, an ID card is issued. The student must submit his ID card if required at any point on campus. The student is not allowed to attend lectures, practical exercises or exams unless he/she has the ID-card.
  8. The student who graduates from one department is not allowed to enroll again at the same department.
Students’ Registration:
  • It is allowed for a freshman, who does not fulfill registration procedures or a student who withdraws his/her papers while he/she is enrolled in first or second year, to re-enter the university again. In such cases the student has to pay the reenrollment fees according to what the university council determines. If a student re-enrolls, the previous academic year is counted as one of the allowed failure chances.
  • The freshman is not considered as a student at the university, unless he pays the fees in return for the services provided by the university. The student is not allowed to borrow books from the university library, or to use university transportation means and cannot receive his documents, certificates or his results unless he/she pays the fees.
  • The faculty allocates at least 5% of the total sum of university fees, for the cases of exemption. The faculty is not allowed to cut down this percentage without the approval of the university council. The faculty council sets the rules of exemption from paying university fees, bearing in mind the student’s social status, crises and excellence.
  • Students who are recalled for military services do not pay the university’s fees. Their places are reserved and if they are allowed to enter the exam students have to pay the exams' fees.
  • Students who have the approval of the faculty council and university council to postpone their registration for reasons accepted by both councils – do not pay fees until they have the opportunity to attend lectures regularly.
Students’ Transference Rules:
  • A fist year student cannot be transferred from equal faculties or institutions to the faculty of Languages and Translation unless the student passes the minimum limit of the total grade that is accepted by the faculty of Languages and Translation and with the consent of the two deans.
  • Students who do not fulfill the minimum score are not allowed to be transferred to the faculty of Languages and Translation. Exceptions to the rule are students with reasons of sick status approved by the university medical consultants or because of social circumstances approved by the university president and the faculty council.
  • A Student in an advanced academic year to the first year is allowed to be transferred from corresponding faculties to the faculty of Languages and Translation, for health reasons or social circumstances and with the consent of the two deans. In this case the student can be enrolled in the same academic year he had reached before the transference and must pass exams in some courses and may be exempted from other courses. This depends on the faculty programs. Academic years spent by failed students in a corresponding year are included among permissible failure chances.
  • Students who passed first year are allowed to be transferred to any non – equal faculty or institute – provided that the student must possess the minimum total of admission allowed in the year in which he acquired his secondary school certificate or the current year. This also depends on the consent of the two deans. In this case the student can only be enrolled in the 1st year at the faculty.
  • In all previous cases the student must not exceed the allowed attempts to pass any academic year in his faculty or else this will be considered a disciplinary dismissal. He also must submit a request of transference before the start of the academic year.
  • Students are allowed to re-enroll if they are dismissed, for any reason, except the disciplinary reason from military faculties or police academies, if they have exceeded the available attempts to pass any academic year in their faculties. In such cases, the student must possess the accumulated score and qualification which a similar student had before joining the faculty of Languages and Translation.
  • Students who exceed the allowed number of attempts to pass any academic year in faculties and higher institutions could be accepted according to the following rules:
  • The student should be registered in the academic year preceding the one he desires to join the Faculty of Languages and Translation.
  • The applicant should be a secondary certificate holder or an equivalent certificate - with a total qualification for the faculty in the year of the certificate’s acquisition or the year of joining the faculty. In this case the student will be enrolled in the first year as a freshman and they have to submit his papers to the faculty. The acceptance must be approved by the Faculty Council with the consent of the University President.
Students are allowed to re-enroll in the following cases:
  • Freshman who does not fulfill the registration for a reasonable excuse.
  • The student who withdrew his papers, while being registered in the faculty for a reasonable excuse.
  • The student who did not submit his papers to the coordination bureau in the year of the secondary certificate acquisition for a reasonable excuse with the prerequisite of acquiring the minimum total grade required for admission.
  • In all cases, the year that ends without the student’s registration is considered a year of failure. Registration or re-enrollment depends upon the consent of the University President or the Faculty Council. This differs according to the circumstances of each.
