General Chemistry 3 (2+1 )

 

The course deals with the basic principles of chemistry and the application of chemistry in understanding the biological events.

Organic Chemistry ( 1 )  3 (2+1 )

 

The course provides the students with general knowledge of organic chemistry relevant to medical fields.

 

 

 

MDPL 112

Physiology 4 (2+1 )

 

This course deals with human physiology in relation to the normal and the disturbed organ functions. each system is reviewed with reference to function and its role in body homeostasis.

 

 

 

LETG 111A

English I   2 (2+0 )

 

This course focusing on appropriate grammatical structures and verb tenses and presents, an extensive practice in conversation and writing with special emphasis to medical terminology.

Fundamentals of Nursing (1))

 

The course aims to introduce the beginner student to the study of nursing as an art and science. It sets the foundation for all the broad knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for the practice of professional nursing in general. Virtually, this course focuses on all aspects related to the individual’s needs in condition of health and illness and the means to meet these needs through nursing care using a systematic and scientifically oriented approach.The course also aims to introduce the beginner student nurse to the study of roles and actions basic to nursing, and nursing interventions necessary to

promote healthy physiologic and psychological responses.

Computer 1 (introduction to computer)

 

This course gives a brief introduction to the construction of the computer as CPU, storage devices, output and input devices, different types of drives. The students must be aware of counting systems such as binary, decimal, hexadecimal and actal system, and identify different types of cable connection.

The study of Scientific English is continued at a higher level. The common medical terms in all medical fields are declared using medical topics and medical journal articles. Report writing and abstract writing using accurate grammar and vocabulary are to be focused upon.

Human Anatomy 3 (2+1 )

 

This course deals with general anatomy of human body where basic knowledge helps to clarify and is of importance to an understanding of the clinical disorders that may arise. The course comprises a brief anatomical knowledge about the surface anatomy, the musculo-skeletal system, the limbs, the abdomen, the pelvis, the chest, the circulation and nervous system.

General Physics

 

This course provides the students with basic information concerning the basic concepts of physics needed for their future studies and their applications in the medical fields.

 

 

 

MSNU 301

Medical Nursing 4 (3+1 )

 

This course is designed to meet the needs of intermediate level nursing students of baccalaureate degree level. It aims to introduce the students to the basic knowledge and skills necessary for the care of individuals with medical problems. Emphasis should be put on the pathophysiological aspects of illness and the different modalities of medical treatments including drugs, and other procedures, and the related aspects of medical condition. However, the student should integrate knowledge from other supporting courses taken previously or simultaneously. Complimentary to this course is Surgical Nursing taught in the following semester. Core concepts of Medical Nursing are also used as foundations for the study of Surgical Nursing with special emphasis on Surgical Nursing Management.

Medical Microbiology

 

This course consists of general microbiology and principles of immunology. The course describes the structure, classification, and growth of the microorganisms of medical importance and demonstrates the physical and chemical methods used to control microorganisms. The natural factors in immunity and the types of immunity are also represented..

Principles of pathology

 

This course includes basic pathological processes (mechanisms of human diseases, inflammation, immune reactions, cell response to injury, circulatory disturbances and neoplasia.

Principles of statistics

 

This course provides an understanding of the basics of biostatistics as related to medical sciences. The principles, concepts and the basic methodology are emphasized. Problem solving, interpretation, and evaluation of results of practical medical applications will constitute the major component of the course

Ethical & Legal Issues in Health Professions 2(2+0)

 

Graduates of the faculty of applied medical science eill be invariably involved in the course introduce s to the legal aspects that determined the right of  patients receiving the health care services and that of the medical personnel giving or sharing in health care services nursing ethics focuses on the study of principles of right and wrong conduct for the health professionals and provides the standards for professional behavior .

 

 

 

MSNU 351

Surgical Nursing 5(3+2)

 

This course provides the nursing student with basic knowledge and skills related to care of patient with surgical conditions. Student is required to integrate theoretical knowledge base obtained from the course of Surgery for Nurses, which is concurrently offered, into nursing care. The focus of the course is the care given in the preoperative period including complications.

Clinical training is conducted in the surgical units and the operating room

General surgery 2(2+2)

 

This course is offered concurrently with the course of Surgical Nursing. It is designed to provide the student with theoretical background that enables her to understand the common surgical conditions and their management

Surgical Specialties for Nurses 4(1+3)

 

This course is designed to provide the nursing students with knowledge pertinent to cardiothoracic, orthopedic, ophthalmologic, and ENT to be employed during caring the adult patient.
