Medical convoy to Haram City Familty Health Care Unit at October 6 City

    On Wednesday 8th of November 2017, Faculty of Medicine, October 6 University carried out  a medical convoy to Haram City Familty  Health Care Unit at October Six City. The convoy comprised almost all medical specialties including, Internal medicine, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Ear- nose and throat (E.N.T), obstetrics and gynecology, Orthopedic, and pediatrics. Staff and students from Faculties of Medicine,Pharmacy and Informatics and Computer Science participated in the convoy under supervision of Prof. Dr. Azza El-Ghareeb the head of community service committee at Faculty of Medicine.  The convoy provided diagnostic and therapeutic services to 865 patients, 258 of them were referred to October 6 University Teaching Hospital for further investigations and surgical procedures. The students shared in the organization of patients in the clinics. Also, they shared in history taking, measuring the vital signs and distributing awareness flyers about Diabetes Mellitus and some parasitic diseases. The Faculty of Pharmacy shared by supplementing the commonly needed drugs.  Questionnaires were distributed by the participants from Faculty of informatics and computer sciences to evaluate the socioeconomic condition of the patients and its relation to diseases. Also patient’s satisfaction was assessed and they appreciated the work done and demanded for more convoys. The students found that the convoy is a very effective mean of learning and they asked to be involved in the following activity.
