The Faculty of Languages and Translation hosted Prof. Aisha Sowailem, professor of Spanish literature and civilization who provided a lecture entitled “Andalusia: The Lost Paradise”. The lecture focused on the history of Spain when it was ruled by the Arabs and the Muslims. The lecturer introduced a comprehensive presentation about the Islamic history of Spain. The presentation also included a short video about the Islamic monuments such as Alhambra, the palace and fortress complex located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain. It was originally constructed as a fortress in 889, and was converted into a royal palace in 1333 by Yusuf I, Sultan of Granada.
