Faculty of Education, October 6 University has organized a conference on Private Higher Education: Challenges and Development in celebration of the 16th anniversary of the establishment of October 6 University. The conference was organized under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Mosad, Minister of Higher Education and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Attia Saida, President of October 6 University and with Prof. Dr. Abdel Motaleb El- Quirty, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Conference President. The conference was held on 13, 14 November 2012 and hosted a number of 4 sessions, two of which were held on the first day entitled “Private Higher Education: Reality and Projected Development” and “Private Higher Education: Responding to development needs and community servise.” Day two featured a session entitled “Specializations of Higher Education: Mission and Examples of Excellence.” The last session introduced a group of papers introduced by faculty about matters that pertain to higher education both in Egypt and aboard. Participants include Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, former Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Attia Saida, President of October 6 University, Prof. Dr. Khair El- Din Abdel Latif, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees for International Strategies and Cultural Relations, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Fahmy Consultant to the Minister of Higher Education and a number of deans and professors working for Egyptian Universities, professionals and journalists. The conference published its recommendations which included, but are not limited to, student enrollment, registration, advising and services. The conference also shed light on the inevitability of starting a serious post graduate studies program supported by an updated library and labs in the respective majors. Participants have addressed the importance of signing agreements protocols between public and private Egyptian and international universities and of engaging in the development of educational programs that meet professional needs in today’s Egypt.
