The Faculty of Mass Communication and Informatics organizes a Symposium on "Drama and Arab Family Problems" In the framework of its annual cultural program, the Faculty of Mass Communication and Informatics organized on Monday 25 October 2010 a symposium on "Drama and Arab Family Problems". The Faculty hosted Cinema industry celebrities who gave their account on such an important issue. Speakers were: Actress Afaf Shoeb ,Actress Hanan Metawei, Director Ahmed Shafik, Critic Prof. Yousry El Manadely of the Higher Institute for Cinema. Guests were received and greeted by Prof. Ahmed Attia Seida-President of October 6 University and his deputies and other Faculty Members. Students of the Faculty of Mass Communication presented the speakers in a highly professional way. In his welcome address Prof. Shaaban Shams,Dean of the Faculty highlighted the importance of the topic and the impact of drama on Youth and the role drama could play in planting and reinforcing values in them while Actress Afaf Shoeb reasserted the vital importance of carefully identifying the art work to be done, performed or directed considering the role of culture as the real ambassador representing Egypt in the region and beyond. Actress Hanan Metawei expressed gratitude that October 6 University has chosen a topic that engages art with society problems. Director Ahmed Shafik said it has become imperative to address the daily life problems of people and engage art in development. Critic Prof. Yousri Al Manadely concluded by commending Egypt's pioneering role in culture. The event stimulated interesting discussions and questions which were addressed by the guests.
