The Faculty of Languages and Translation, O6U hosted a seminar entitled Life Has Taught Me: A Personal Account of Human Development, given by Prof. Khiereldin Abdellatif, the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees for International Strategies and Cultural Relations, O6U. The talk was held on Wednesday, 20 November 2013. At the outset, Prof. Abdellatif illustrated Egypt's pivotal regional role in the establishment of one of the greatest human civilizations in history; calling for every Egyptian to embrace the spirit of unity and tolerance to achieve national entente. He also urged the young generation to acquire the required experience that would support them in facing the future challenges. Following are the main issues covered in the seminar: • Learning the Arabic language with a focus on its syntax and semantics as one of the students' top priorities. • Mastering the English language which could be achieved through exposure to and immersion in authentic learning resources such as the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as well as television and radio materials. • Life-long learning is a process that requires the tireless pursuit of knowledge along with limitless perseverance and tenacity. • Students should lead and engage in a wide array of activities that foster creativity, confidence and essential practical life skills.
