Mandatory University Requirements

MU101: Library and research resources

The course deals with the basic principles of Library & Information System, the student will be able to recognize the information resources, the traditional and electronic libraries also the different data bases and the methods of research.

MU103: Human Rights

This course aims to help students gain the knowledge about some basic concepts of human rights. The fundamental information about the social and economic rights. The human rights in Islam religion. Learn the essential conceptions of international concepts of human rights. Acquire students the right of fairing justice. Develop scientific approaches that meet community needs considering economic, environmental, social, ethical, and safety requirements.

MU105: Computer I

This course gives a brief introduction to the construction of the computer as CPU, storage devices, output and input devices, different types of drives. The students must be aware of counting systems such as binary, decimal, hexadecimal and octal system, and identify different types of cable connection. Applications software and operating systems. the practical part include using different kinds of computer applications and other related technical tools, using software to create letters, sending emails, using the keyboard and mouse, using Microsoft Word for typing documents, setting up an email account to send and receive emails.

Design and set up a spreadsheet with basic functions and graphs. understanding Word Processing, using Internet and operate a computer in a network environment. Making small presentation: Basics of presentation software; Creating presentation; preparation and presentation of Slides; Slide Show; Taking printouts of presentation / handouts. Introducing to the IT sector.

ELU101:  Arabic Language

The purpose of the study of the Arabic language course is to develop the students' abilities in Arabic grammar and the correct understanding of the Arabic language in the past and present, and to train students to recite in different situations.

ELU102: Foreign Language

Adverbs - prepositions - conjunctions - verbs - auxiliary verbs - may - can - must - have to - need - dare - ought - used - Purpose clauses - Expressing preferences - Making comparisons - Conditional statements - Reported statements.

ELU103: Psychology

This course aims at introducing the students to the various types of mental diseases, the nature and intensity of patient problems and the ways to alleviate and relieve the psychological distress This course introduced many of the underlying principles and approaches believed to guide human behavior, including biological factors, learning, memory, social cognition, intelligence, emotion, and personality.

The course introduces the impact of environmental pollution on the environmental health. The effects of the global environmental changes and strategies are to be stressed upon

MFANA205 General Anatomy for Technologists

This course deals with general anatomy of human body where basic knowledge helps to clarify and is of importance to an understanding of the clinical disorders that may arise. The course comprises a brief anatomical knowledge about the surface anatomy, the Musculo-skeletal system, the limbs, the abdomen, the pelvis, the chest, the circulation and the nervous system.

MFBACT306 Basics of Microbiology

The course aimed to study the structure, classification and growth of the microorganisms of medical importance in addition to the main principle of bacterial genetics, antimicrobial chemotherapy and pathogenesis of bacterial infections. In the practical part the student should practice the basic methods of isolation of bacteria and the identification of common bacteria by staining, culture and biochemical reactions while applying laboratory safety measures.

MFBIM314 Biomathematics

Application of mathematical, statistical and computational methods in biology. Mathematical topics include indices and logarithms and their applications in biological growth and decay.

logarithms and modeling solving, exponential decay and growth problems (radioactive materials, bacteria ) and linear programming problems. Mathematical formulation of linear programming problems optimization techniques, maximization and minimization techniques.

MFBIOC201 Biochemistry I

The Chemistry of the physiologically important carbohydrates, lipids and proteins are briefly presented. Practical courses point to detection of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins and demonstration of their physical and chemical properties.

MFBIOC301 Biochemistry II

The course deals with the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids with special emphasis on the data that improve the understanding of integrated metabolism and its relation to health. The biochemical origin of the chemical components of blood that are usually measured in the lab are identified. The practical part includes detection of glucose and estimation of its level in blood and urine, protein and lipoprotein separations techniques & chromatographic detection of amino acids and sugars in urine manually.

MFBIOP103 Biophysics I

This course provides the student with the basic concepts of physics needed for their future studies and their applications in the health science fields.  The theoretical and laboratory sessions deal with the basic physical laws and phenomena concerning heat, electricity, magnetism and properties of matter.

MFBIOP204 Biophysics II

This course provides the student with the basic concepts of physics needed for their future studies and their applications in the health sciences fields. The theoretical and laboratory sessions address the basic physical laws and phenomena concerning light, laser, ultrasonic and radiation and their applications in health sciences fields.

MFCOMP303 Computer II

Data presentation and structure, development of computer programs is to be stressed upon. Uses of network of medical field. Study of computer. Types of electronic data storage in health care, types of ROM and storage media, digital image processor. The lab sessions are done using the PC at the classrooms. Student will be trained in the following

MFENG106 English I

This course focuses on appropriate grammatical structures and verb tenses and presents an extensive practice in conversation and writing.

MFENG206 English II

This course is specifically designed for health care professionals and it aims at improving students reading and listening skills in English language through accurately selected texts that help students improve health sciences vocabulary. It also improves grammar skills and helps students to use English efficiently. Moreover, a section of this course is dedicated to learning and practice of writing tactics with special focus on health-related topics.

MFPHY104 Physiology for Technologists

This course deals with human physiology in relation to the normal. Each system is reviewed with reference to function and its role in body homeostasis. Practical and technical bases of arterial blood pressure measurement and the principle of respirometer and measure of lung volume, capacity and bases of ECG.

MFETHI308 Ethical & Legal principles in Health Profession

Graduates of the faculty will be invariably involved in the health profession. The course introduces to the legal aspects that determine the right of patients receiving the health care services and that of the health science technologies giving or sharing in health care services. This course focuses on the study of principles of right and wrong conduct for the health professionals and provides the standard for professional behavior. In health profession ethics also state the duties and obligations of the health science technologist to the patients, other health professionals, and to the community.

MFMHC313 Management Systems & Healthcare delivery

Types of hospitals, clinics, and special care, emergency, geographic Distribution. financing of health care delivery: government and private. Staffing and training: physicians, nurses, administration, plant.

MFNA312 Introduction to Nanotechnology

This course provides an introduction to nanotechnology characterization techniques, and the principles of its applications in different health fields.

MFORG102 Organic Chemistry I

This course offers students the opportunity to learn the nature of carbon in organic compounds. It presents general principles of organic chemistry related to structure, stereochemistry, nomenclature, synthesis, uses, and reactions of alcohols, ethers and aliphatic hydrocarbons, Alkanes, alkynes, alkenes, Cycloalkanes.

MFORG202 Organic Chemistry II

Building upon the concepts of functional group, syntheses design and reaction mechanisms introduced in the Organic Chemistry I course, students investigate the structure and reactions of aldehydes and ketones, carboxylic acids and their derivatives, dienes and conjugated systems, benzene and its derivatives, amines, and organometallic compounds. The applied part of course contains identification of aliphatic and aromatic organic compounds; alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, amines, hydrocarbons and carbohydrates.

MFPATH307 General histology and General Pathology

The basic course in human histology consists of  study of the cells, tissues, organs and organ systems of the body under the microscope. The study of pathology is concerned with the development of the gross and microscopic changes in the organs and tissues in abnormal pathological condition compared to the normal state of the cells in different tissues. The practical sessions include spreading and fixation of blood cells and demonstration of the microscope parts and uses pathological tissue conditions are projected as demonstrations.

MFPHY101 Physical Chemistry

Acquiring basic scientific knowledge and principles of physical chemistry; quantum theory and the electronic structure of atoms, periodic table, bonding and structure, covalent bonding orbital, calculations with chemical formulas and equations, nomenclatures of inorganic compounds, matter, measurements, and units, gases, chemical equilibrium, ionic equilibrium, solutions, and chemical kinetics, for understanding other chemistry courses. The laboratory Part of course contains identification of inorganic cations (groups I-VI) and anions (carbonates, sulphates, nitrates, phosphates and halides.

MFPMO311 Principles of Biomedical Equipment

It provides an introduction to medical instrumentation systems, modes of operation, constrains, classification, in medical equipment. interference, and modifying inputs. Compensation techniques. Medical instrumentation characteristics.

MFSTAT302 Biostatistics

This course provides an understanding of the basics of biostatistics as related to health sciences. The principles, concepts and the basic methodology are emphasized. Health statistics, interpretation and evaluation of results of practical medical applications will constitute the major components of this course. Descriptive & inferential statistics hypothesis lest and test of significant.

MFTER105 Medical Terminology

The common medical terms in all medical fields are declared using medical topics and medical journal articles.

ELFCOMP301 Computer III

This course includes the concept of computer science. The introduction to the practical application of computer in health care, use of computer in organization of data. Hospital information system laboratory information system PACS and DICOM systems-workstation, artificial intelligence in health care. The practical session demonstration is done by the PC of the students at the classroom. Practical lessons  are  composed  of two  projects: in  the  first  project  we  introduce  the  basis of language programming C, and in the second project an introduction of computer vision.

Student can be deals with IT sector in medical field Using PACS and DICOM in transferring images. development of a biomedical software system

Simulation of vital process such as Plasma simulation and molecular dynamics simulation. Implement  programming  application  that  load  and  manipulate  images. Be familiar with medical data and represent it electronically.

ELFFA306 First Aid

The purpose of this course is to help participants identify and eliminate potentially hazardous conditions in their environment, recognize emergencies and make appropriate decisions for first aid care. It teaches skills that participants need to know in order to provide immediate care for a suddenly ill or injured person until more advanced medical care arrives to take over. The practical are performed in the medical skill lab.

ELFMMR309 Mechatronics and Medical robots

Mechatronics and robotics course are a multidisciplinary combination of technologies, electronics, mechanics and computer programing which provide students with practical skills

Understand different types of Medical robots and their application

Understand role of Medical robots in health care and their compatibility with medical image.

The practical session are done at specialized lab in the faculty of engineering

Practical sessions in mechatronics include applications of microprocessors, mechanical design, industrial electronics and control will be presented.

This implies to implement and to manage modeling and optimization methods and tools, which are integrated in a systemic approach. Knowledge in multidisciplinary simulation techniques. Applications (multi-materials composites, innovating transducers and actuators, integrated systems, …) to prepare the students to the coming breakthrough in the domains covering the materials and the systems. Technologies which are used to produce movement and motion.

Using Artificial Intelligence in programming robots using the ROS framework and C++.

In addition, learn and apply robotics software engineering algorithms such as localization, mapping, and navigation.

ELSAD307 System Analysis and Design

This course enables the student to solve system problems through analyzing the requirements of information systems and designing such systems by applying analysis and design techniques. This course deals with the concepts, skills, methodologies, techniques, tools, and perspectives essential for systems analysts. Lab sessions are done in the classrooms using PC.
